SAVANNAH, Ga. (WJCL) Stuart Sligh Jr. was devoted to his faith, family, character, class and commitment.
Those values live on following his untimely death.
Sligh tragically died in a car accident in February 2012.
Stuart lives on in the hearts of family, friends and former teammates and thanks to the Stuart Sligh Jr. Memorial Foundation, his legacy continues to carry on with other student-athletes here in Savannah.
Friday afternoon, Stuart’s parents and members of the Foundation presented a check for $4,000 to Savannah Country Day. The money being used to purchase a new pitching machine.
"We're very fortunate the Sligh Foundation donated to us," says Country Day baseball coach Dan Garofano.
Country Day just the latest athletic program to receive a gift from the Sligh Foundation.
"Over the past two years, we've given out almost $20,000," says Stu's father Stuart Sligh Sr. "His legacy is that the foundation will continue to help local athletes and teams in need."
Stuart Sligh Jr. was student-athlete at Savannah Country Day. He excelled at football and baseball for the Hornets.
